French Toast Casserole

I had three leftover hoagie rolls that were getting stale, so I threw them into a french toast casserole. It is a wonderful way to use up bread that is on the verge of being thrown out.

4 cups torn bread
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
Put bread into greased casserole dish. Combine eggs, milk and syrup. Pour over bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Spoon into bowls and serve with your favorite topping. I will have to give one a try. I did a Paula Deen French toast casserole on Mother's Day and was disappointed. Thanks for a new recipe!

I always have good intentions, saving the old bread in the freezer to either make bread pudding or trying out a recipe like yours.....I always forget about the bread and then I end up throwing it away. I am going to have to get on the stick and try this.

If I already left this comment, you can disregard this one - my internet was not cooperating with me - so here it goes again. I said that I thought using up leftover buns was a great idea. Happy FF. ~ Robyn

This is so simple that it must be good. I know it is good because I have made something really similar, but it was a lot more work! So thanks to you I have a wonderful new recipe to add to my mornings!
