Show & Tell: Old Serving Bowls
As I have said before, I love dishes. These have been in my family for a couple of generations and although I am not sure how safe they are to use, I love to see them in my cupboard because of the memories they bring to mind.
This one is especially used and from the looks of it, wants to retire to a shelf to be admired from afar.

This one always had boiled or mashed potatoes in it. Looking at it, I can just taste the chicken dinner at my grandmother's house! I like the ridges on the outside. It has a lot of character.

This one has a delicate little floral pattern on the inside. I love inside patterns. It's like the bowl is rewarding us for eating the food it offers.

I remember the bowl with the oranges, yellows and browns in it. My Aunt Betty used to have these and I think she bought them at A&P for like $1 something each with so much of a grocery purchase.
I love old bowls too. Yours are so pretty!

Great old bowls. I have a few also and they are very special. You have some great ones!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, anything antique and saved either for just display or actual use is GREAT. Love the green on the top bowl.
Excellent show n tell. Mine's posted, I do hope you can stop by and visit with me sometime today. Happy Friday.
Isn't it special to have bowls that have been in the family and memories to go with them?
I have a serious bowl addiction and am so happy to see that someone else suffers with the same disease!
I have a Jewel T bowl just like yours and my great aunt always served mashed potatos in hers too. Of course, so do I.
Blessings

Lovely serving dishes, and I love that you have memories of delicious food served in them too.
I have an old family bowl too. I will have to share it sometime!! I love your bowls. Thanks for sharing.
Kathy :)
Love all your bowls especially the green one. The Autumn Leaf is a pretty one too! I'm sure what you enjoy the most are the memories and love attached!
Love your bowls. Great character and full of memories. Jean
Cool! I really like the last bowl. The colors are beautiful. What wonderful memories of your family dinners. I have some bowls from my grandmother that I just love. We don't use them, I just love them - lol. Thanks for sharing with us.
You are always welcome in The Shadow of the Cross. Feel free to stop in anytime.
Your bowls are so pretty. I've seen pink and blue ones, but none like yours. Thanks for sharing.
You've got some special bowls. Thanks for sharing. Happy Show and Tell Day!
Old bowls, especially family ones, are definitely the best! They hold the flavour of the years before, and everything tastes better out of them! The first one, the cream and emerald one, is an absolute beauty! What a great show-and-tell!

The first one with the green roses is my favorite, I think it has a great, long, nice story. You are lucky to have it!

Ooohhh...I love dishes too, and bowls! These three are really wonderful, and I love the warm family memories they evoke for you. :-)
Like everyone else I love old dishes, too!!! LOL
Karen
They're pretty. I have some of grandma's old ones and am always concerned about their safe use too, but they look so pretty in the china cabinet or with flowers or floating candles in them.
Very cool - you took things that were nice and made them very special - connecting the tastes of the dishes they have held and the anticipation of finding the secret designs waiting for members of the clean plate club!
Great old bowls that hold alot of great old memories!
